A suspect has been arrested following a multi-car crash on Rainier Avenue South in Seattle that hospitalized at least 10 people, including children. The incident occurred just before 5 PM on Friday during the evening rush hour. According to police, a white pickup truck driver lost control and struck multiple vehicles over a span of three blocks, involving a total of 15 cars, nine of which were occupied. Witnesses reported that the driver was speeding and driving erratically at over 60 miles per hour.”I just heard a big boom,” said witness Basmia Sadeeq, describing it as the most terrifying accident she had ever seen. The collision flipped another truck onto its side, critically injuring its driver and seriously injuring two children inside. Emergency responders extricated the victims before transporting them to Harborview Medical Center.
The driver of the red vehicle also suffered critical injuries. Police are investigating potential factors such as drugs or alcohol. Rainier Avenue South was closed for several hours as authorities assessed the scene and collected evidence.
