Have you ever thought about freezing milk?

My family can never predict how much milk we’ll drink each week. Sometimes I buy what seems like enough, and it’s gone in two days. Other times, I overbuy, and it expires before we can finish it. Thankfully, I discovered a simple solution: freezing milk!

How to Safely Freeze Milk

Step 1: Prepare the Container
If your milk comes in a plastic gallon jug, pour out about one cup. Milk expands as it freezes, and leaving it full could cause a messy explosion in your freezer.

Step 2: Choose Your Freezing Method
You can freeze the entire jug or pour milk into an ice cube tray for smaller portions. Always use plastic containers—glass can crack in extreme temperatures.

How Long Does Frozen Milk Last?

Frozen milk stays good for up to three months. To thaw, place it in the fridge for 24 hours. Need it faster? Submerge the container in cold water, and it will thaw in about 30 minutes.

No More Milk Worries

Now, I never stress about running out or wasting milk. I can stock up during sales, freeze leftovers before vacation, or use milk cubes for coffee and baking. It’s a simple trick that saves money and reduces waste.

If your household struggles with milk like mine, this is the solution. The only question left: how do I predict our cereal consumption? Some problems never go away!
