England fans are facing a difficult decision this weekend after the Three Lions topped Group C in Euro 2024.

On the evening of June 25, England managed to secure the top spot in their group despite a lackluster 0-0 draw against Slovenia. This result means England will face the third-placed team from Group D, E, or F on Sunday, June 30, at 5 pm.

While England’s performance against Slovenia was far from convincing, they now look ahead to their next challenge. As of now, the Netherlands, who finished third in Group D, are the most likely opponents. The third-placed teams in Groups E and F are yet to be determined.

However, many football fans might miss this crucial match due to a clash with Glastonbury, the renowned music festival taking place this weekend. In previous years, Glastonbury has screened major sporting events, allowing festival-goers to enjoy both music and football. This year, though, the festival organizers have decided not to screen any Euro matches.

A statement from the organizers explained: “In previous years, we have endeavored to show notable matches on big screens where possible, particularly on days before the main stages have opened. However, with England and Scotland’s last 16 matches potentially clashing with headline sets at this year’s festival, the decision has been made that – as in 2014 and 2016 – should England or Scotland qualify from their groups, their last 16 matches will not be shown at the festival.”

The statement also wished Gareth Southgate’s team the best in their upcoming match, adding: “We hope we’ll all be able to watch them play quarter-final matches in the days after this year’s festival.”

This means that football fans attending Glastonbury—or those tuning in from home—will need to choose between watching England’s critical match and enjoying the festival’s performances.

Fans loyal to Southgate’s team will miss acts like Janelle Monáe and Burna Boy on the Pyramid Stage or Avril Lavigne and Two Door Cinema Club on the Other Stage. However, if they are willing to skip the post-match commentary, they might still catch R&B singer SZA’s headline set.
