All I wanted for my 80th birthday was to see my daughter, so I made the decision to drive to her house and surprise her. \u201cDad, why are you here?\u201d she questioned as she opened the door, appearing uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI just wanted to spend my birthday with you,\u201d I answered, grinning. But I was unprepared for her response. \u201cDad, you can\u2019t stay,\u201d she said. I\u2019m very busy right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I offered to stay on the couch until she had some time because I was upset, but she firmly refused, saying, \u201cNo, Dad, you really need to go right now.\u201d I turned and went back to my car even though I didn\u2019t want to. I heard sounds coming from inside the house as I was leaving. I was concerned as I peered through the window and noticed two strange persons inside. As my worries about my daughter\u2019s safety increased, I made a police call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cops moved swiftly and cautiously toward the residence. Following several anxious moments, they emerged with the two strangers restrained by handcuffs. My daughter gave me a big hug as she cried and dashed out of the house. \u201cI\u2019m so sorry, Dad,\u201d she wept. \u201cI was attempting to protect you.\u201d The guys broke in right before you arrived. I didn\u2019t know what to do and I didn\u2019t want anything bad to happen to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I embraced her tight and felt a great sense of comfort. \u201cIt\u2019s alright, my dear. Just knowing you\u2019re secure pleases me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
