Three years ago, I made the mistake of going through my girlfriend\u2019s phone. That\u2019s when I found out she was begging some rich guy to give her time to break up with me. She said she didn\u2019t want it to be too sudden. I was crushed, but somehow I managed to keep my cool. Yet, from that moment on, everything I did seemed to irritate her\u2014 even just saying hello felt like I was walking on eggshells. A week later, she told me she couldn\u2019t do it anymore. She said she was getting older and couldn\u2019t wait around forever.
I was devastated. My mind was racing, so I confronted her about what I saw on her phone. Instead of owning up to it, she got furious and told her new guy\u2014who happened to be a cop\u2014that I had violated her privacy. Next thing I knew, he and his colleagues showed up at my place, threw me in cuffs, and locked me up for two days. I felt completely powerless.
After I got out, I sent her a text, telling her she\u2019d never find anyone who would love her the way I did and that this new guy would eventually let her down.
Five months passed, and her new guy got a big promotion and moved out of the country. About a year later, she followed him. Today, I saw a picture of their wedding in New York City, and it hit me hard. I couldn\u2019t help but cry. Meanwhile, here I am, barely scraping by, stuck in the same place I was when she left. I don\u2019t even have a decent job. The stress is overwhelming, and a part of me wonders if poverty drove her away, knowing she\u2019d find someone better.
Even though I felt betrayed, deep down, I\u2019m happy she found someone who could give her a better life. But man, it\u2019s hard not to feel left behind<\/p>\n\n\n\n
