The Greenwood house was quiet, with Brian, an 18-year-old college student, engrossed in his project. His father, Alex, a respected economics professor and Brian\u2019s teacher, returned home looking worn from a day at college. \u201cYou look exhausted,\u201d Amanda, Brian\u2019s mother, greeted Alex with concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a long day,\u201d Alex sighed, discussing the semester\u2019s end demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrying the weight of his secret, Brian finally stepped up to the stage. With a firm voice, he announced, \u201cToday, I\u2019m going to share the truth about my dad.\u201d As he said that, the pictures of Alex and Elizabeth were shown on a big screen, causing a huge gasp in the hall.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Alex got up and walked towards the stage as the room filled with whispers. \u201cI\u2019ve been unfaithful to both my son and my wife for a long time,\u201d he admitted, struggling to speak under the heavy burden of his confession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The principal, Carla Thompson, tried to stop him, but Alex kept talking. \u201cBut it\u2019s not what you think. Elizabeth isn\u2019t my girlfriend\u2026 She\u2019s actually my daughter,\u201d he shared, leaving everyone speechless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd her mom is the college director, Mrs. Thompson,\u201d Alex went on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turned out that 18 years ago, when Brian was an infant, Alex had a big argument with his wife, Amanda. Amanda was shocked as if she wasn\u2019t at fault. And the truth was she wasn\u2019t. She even tried explaining that she was at a friend\u2019s place and that everything was a misunderstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Alex wouldn\u2019t listen. Furious, he left in a huff and went to a nearby bar to try to forget his troubles. The person serving drinks tried to make him feel better, but it was Carla, his then colleague and a teacher at the college where Alex was the principal, who helped take his mind off things by asking him to join her birthday party at the bar that night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the evening went on and the party wrapped up, Carla saw that Alex wasn\u2019t doing great and offered to drive him to her place. After having too much to drink, they ended up kissing and spent the night together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Alex woke up at Carla\u2019s place the next day, he felt really bad about what happened, especially after what he had said to Amanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He got home early in the morning, and Amanda was worried. \u201cAlex, where have you been? You reek of alcohol,\u201d she said, clearly upset and worried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex, hiding what he did, lied about where he was. \u201cI was just at a mate\u2019s place and lost track of time,\u201d he said, avoiding Amanda\u2019s look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was then Amanda shared her truth. \u201cYou know those photos of me and that guy at the hotel? Well, he was planning a surprise for your birthday,\u201d she said, showing some receipts to clear up the confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feeling really bad and realizing Amanda hadn\u2019t done anything wrong, Alex apologized to her. \u201cI\u2019m really sorry. I should\u2019ve believed in you.\u201d But he didn\u2019t tell her about his own mistake because he didn\u2019t want to upset her more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom now on, let\u2019s promise to believe in each other,\u201d Amanda said, and they decided to start over. Starting fresh, Amanda\u2019s first goal was to ensure Alex had a great birthday, and she did her best. Everyone at the party was having a great time \u2014 friends, family, and co-workers were all there, laughing and sharing stories, even Carla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But things took a turn when Carla took Alex aside. \u201cWe need to talk,\u201d she said, sounding really serious. So Alex followed her outside. And it was then she dropped a bombshell: \u201cI\u2019m pregnant, Alex, and it\u2019s your baby,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex was shocked. His reputation would be destroyed if his one-night stand came out in public. So Carla devised a plan: \u201cI\u2019ll move away, have the baby, and then give it to a shelter. When I return, I want to take your job as the principal. I don\u2019t want this child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex agreed. \u201cOkay, Carla. We\u2019ll do it your way,\u201d he said, making a big decision that would change their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian\u2019s eyes welled up as Alex finished narrating his story to an audience of students and faculty. The hall was silent, shocked by the revelations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth couldn\u2019t contain her anger. \u201cWhen I found you, you told me that my mother died and that you never knew that you had a daughter!\u201d she yelled as she approached Alex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in response, Elizabeth slapped him and stormed out. She didn\u2019t want to do anything with a man who lied to her and his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI never want to see you again,\u201d Brian snapped at Alex. \u201cYou\u2019re a liar and a traitor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disgusted, he, too, left the hall. Amidst this, a cry for help rang out as Amanda collapsed from a heart attack, overwhelmed by the revelations. The emergency team rushed in, the crowd parting in shock and concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the paramedics took her away, Alex wept alone on a bench. He wanted to fix things by telling the truth, but it made everything worse. Elizabeth couldn\u2019t let go of his lies; Brian couldn\u2019t forgive his betrayal; and Amanda got really sick because of all the stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
