Marie\u2019s dog greeted her warmly when she returned home from vacation, despite her disappointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her pet puppy usually greeted her with kisses, so the Ohio resident didn\u2019t notice the small cut on her hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The days that followed Marie\u2019s homecoming were completely unexpected, as her condition rapidly deteriorated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her husband, Matt Trainer, saw her health fast deteriorating and advised her to seek medical attention at a local hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t feeling well and just got sicker and sicker,\u201d Marie added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After seeking medical assistance, Marie fell into a coma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigations revealed that a bacteria known as Capnocytophaga canimorsus was the cause of Marie\u2019s uncommon infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical specialists suspect the germs entered Marie\u2019s immune system when her dog licked the open lesion on her hand.<br>This is because the bacterium is widely present in cats\u2019 and dogs\u2019 saliva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/timeusanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/%D0%A1%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%BE%D0%BA-%D1%8D%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B0-2024-09-25-%D0%B2-22.48.13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2029\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While exceedingly rare, capnocytophaga bacteria can cause catastrophic complications such as sepsis, heart attack, renal failure, severe blood clots, and gangrene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, Marie survived the terrifying incident, but the amputation resulted in the loss of both her legs and arms.<br>Dr. Ajay Seth, who treated Marie, told Fox News that \u201cit was just rapidly progressing where her hands and feet were turning black.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite receiving instructions to amputate all four limbs at the torso, Dr. Seth remained committed to preserving as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end, the Ohio mother had both of her legs amputated up to her knees, and physicians were able to salvage huge portions of her arms.<br>While the outcome is better than expected, Marie has had a difficult time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been challenging,\u201d she said. \u201cLearning how to walk was the hardest thing, but I\u2019m good; I\u2019m doing good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, Marie received myoelectric prostheses, enabling her to resume tasks like gardening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe see the light at the end of the tunnel; we just adjust what we have to do; it just takes more planning when we want to do something,\u201d Marie\u2019s husband explained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Woman loses all of her limbs after doing something that is totally \u2018normal\u2019 Marie Trainer had just returned from the time of her life in the spring&#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":23673,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23672"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=23672"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23672\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":44885,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23672\/revisions\/44885"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/23673"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=23672"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=23672"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=23672"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
