From Struggles to Success: My Journey from a Village in India to a U.S. Career.. Overcoming challenges to build a brighter future. I grew up in a lower-income family in India, where neither of my parents had an education. Despite that, I was determined to excel in school. In high school, I read a lot of inspirational books, which kept me focused. I scored 92% on my 10th-grade exams without any tutoring, and even though girls in my family typically didn\u2019t continue school after that, my teachers convinced my dad to let me pursue further education. I earned a diploma in IT with top marks and had job offers, but I was determined to finish my Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t an easy path. I commuted four hours daily from my village, but I stayed focused\u2014until my dad passed away during my exams. I remember attending an exam right after his funeral. With no money to continue school, I almost quit and moved to the city to look for a job. But a community leader from my village stepped in to pay my tuition. I topped the next semester, and my college waived my fees for the rest of the program. Despite financial struggles, I graduated with honors, but without job placements, I took a small job while teaching private classes to cover expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pressure to marry came quickly. My family was pushing for unsuitable matches, and one proposal was from a man who had only a 10th-grade education and worked as a laborer. I refused, determined to marry someone with a similar background. Through a Matrimony site, I met a man living in the U.S. Within a month, we were married, and his family covered the wedding costs. I moved to the U.S., and after some rejections, I landed a $105K\/year position at a major investment bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
