I kept going on about my &#8220;perfect&#8221; country life until my boss said he wanted to visit me for the holidays!!! The truth would cost me my job. So I panicked, found the nearest village, and rented a little cottage. The owner was this cranky old lady \u2014 she clearly thought I wouldn&#8217;t last a day there. She rented me the place but made me promise to leave it EXACTLY as I&#8217;d found it. Sure, I agreed \u2014 I had to keep my job. A few hours in, and there I was \u2014 covered in soot, the kitchen trashed, and running around the yard trying to catch chickens! But that wasn&#8217;t even the worst part. My boss and his wife didn&#8217;t show up alone. Oh no.
