Diagnosed with hydrocephalus at birth, his biological parents abandoned him. Left in an orphanage for disabled children in Krematorsk, staff doubted his survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014, the war in eastern Ukraine forced the orphanage to evacuate, leaving children like Dima without food or medicine. After a week of turmoil, separatists handed the children to Ukrainian authorities, bringing them to safety in Kharkiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dima\u2019s fate changed when Ernest and Ruth Chaves, a couple from Vermont, heard about the war-torn region and decided to adopt him. Experienced parents of seven, they quickly brought Dima to the U.S., giving him a new name, Zebadiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With love and care, Zebadiah made incredible progress. He learned to eat with a spoon, walk, and even communicate in both Ukrainian and English. Doctors remain optimistic about his future, with Zebadiah undergoing surgeries to further improve his health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Zebadiah thrives with his family, proving his strength and resilience.
