She said, \u201cDad, you can\u2019t stay. I have a lot going on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feeling upset, I offered to wait on the sofa until she had some time, but she firmly said, \u201cNo, Dad, you really need to go right now.\u201d Even though I didn\u2019t want to, I turned and headed back to my car. As I walked away, I heard noises coming from inside the house. Worried, I looked through the window and saw two unfamiliar people inside. My concern for my daughter\u2019s safety grew, so I called the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officers arrived quickly and carefully approached the house. After a few tense moments, they came out with the two strangers in handcuffs. My daughter ran out of the house, crying, and hugged me tightly. \u201cDad, I\u2019m so sorry,\u201d she sobbed. \u201cI was trying to keep you safe. Those men broke in just before you got here. I didn\u2019t know what to do, and I didn\u2019t want you to get hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I felt a huge sense of relief as I held her close. \u201cIt\u2019s okay, sweetheart. I\u2019m just glad you\u2019re safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police took our statements and promised that the intruders would be dealt with.
