Michael Jordan paid tribute to Jerry West, a basketball legend, on First Take. It was announced earlier today that the man on the NBA logo died at the age of 86, with his wife around him. Numerous tributes have been sent to West,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

who was a champion both on and off the court. Additionally, First Take reported on X that Jordan, 61, texted Stephen A. Smith while he was live to share his own words.
He was a reliable friend and teacher.\u201d Somewhat like an older brother.
\u201cI valued his friendship and understanding.\u201d Although I always wanted to play against him, the more I got to know him, the more I wished I had been on his team.
\u201cHis basketball knowledge impressed me, and the way he and I played the game was a lot alike.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHis wife Karen and son will miss him forever. My condolences.\u201d Heaven\u2019s peace, Logo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding a video clip of the tribute, one fan said, \u201cWow, that\u2019s really nice of MJ.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, Jerry West was the best general manager ever. Unquestionably the GOAT GM. \u201cRest in peace, Jerry \u2018The Logo\u2019 West,\u201d explained someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will miss him,\u201d said a third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJerry West\u2014All class!\u201d Last resting place,\u201d a fourth person said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Smith, who is 56 years old, remembered a story from a time when he met West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although West was watching the analyst\u2019s show, he heard Smith say that Jordan should take his place as the NBA\u2019s logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling the ESPN star, West shockingly told him that he agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith explained, \u201cHe called because he thought I sounded like I would argue against it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was saying, \u201cAbsolutely not.\u201d Jackson is my favorite athlete. I believe he deserves it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the best players in NBA history, West also helped build the Los Angeles Lakers\u2019 dynasty in the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he died, he was working as a consultant for the Los Angeles Clippers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lakers gave West a statue in 2010 as a tribute, and in 2019 he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
