As the National Eye Institute<\/a> explains: \u201cAn optical illusion is something that plays tricks on your vision. Optical illusions teach us how our eyes and brains work together to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou live in a three-dimensional world, so your brain gets clues about depth, shading, lighting, and position to help you interpret what you see. But when you look at a two-dimensional image, your brain can be fooled because it doesn\u2019t get the same clues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These illusions can play games with our brains, making us see things that aren\u2019t really there.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, a photo of two overlapping skyscrapers has taken Reddit<\/a> by storm, leaving people scratching their heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sparked a debate when one user asked: \u201cWhich building is closer?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, the lighter-colored building on the right appears closer to the camera. However, many argue it\u2019s actually the building on the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The more you examine the image, the more perplexing it becomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussing the puzzle, one person remarks: \u201cThis one is one of the best ones I\u2019ve seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy first impression was \u2018right\u2019 but then I quickly realized it was \u2018left.\u2019 The buildings kept taking turns popping into the front.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Reddit user insists: \u201cIf you look closely, the building on the left clearly overlaps the one on the right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logically, a third person comments: \u201cLeft because of the shadow. The building on the right has a shadow on the right side of the image where it goes around a corner. The sun is up and to the left, which is shining on the side of the building.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a confusing image, but once you pay closer attention to the left and the right building and how they overlap each other, it\u2019s pretty clear that the one on the right is further back than the one on the left,\u201d somebody else writes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
