One person writes: \u201cThat\u2019s fine, I actually respect what people wish to be referred to as whether it be gender or name, that\u2019s not a problem \u2013 but I still am not a fan of his antics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m sad that people don\u2019t understand what he\u2019s talking about,\u201d says another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

West\u2019s chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, has demanded in a letter that the rapper be referred to by his real name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rapper is described as \u2018one of the most recognisable people in the world, on par with presidents and popes\u2019 in the letter obtained by Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It adds that the \u2018Stronger\u2019 rapper \u2018didn\u2019t take the decision to change his name\u2019 lightly and is \u2018potentially sacrificing some of the immense value captured\u2019 by his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t the only time West\u2019s name change has been brought up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

West\u2019s petition to legally change his name to his mononym Ye was approved in a Los Angeles court in 2021, as reported by TMZ<\/a>. He no longer has a middle name either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rapper\u2019s name has since been used interchangeably by the media, but Yiannopoulos wants that to stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yiannopoulos explains that he is reaching out to \u2018streaming platforms, publishers, stores, unions, lyrics websites and data resellers\u2019 to enforce the change because they are some of \u2018the most visible places\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rapper previously spoke of the name change during a radio interview with BigBoyTV<\/a><\/em>, explaining: \u201cI believe \u2018ye\u2019 is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So I\u2019m you, I\u2019m us, it\u2019s us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist said his name \u2018went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye \u2013 just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the release of West\u2019s 2018 eponymous album, \u2018Ye\u2019, he teased his new name on X, formerly\u00a0Twitter<\/a>, writing that he was \u2018the being formally known as Kanye West\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
