As he prepares for the performance, he remains devoted to his wife, Suleika Jaouad, who is battling cancer for the third time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Batiste and Jaouad first met as teenagers at band camp. Over the years, their love deepened, with Jaouad learning more about creativity from him than from any book. Batiste emphasized that her illness wasn\u2019t the reason for his proposal\u2014he had spent a year designing her engagement ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, Jaouad\u2019s cancer returned as Batiste debuted <em>American Symphony<\/em>. The Netflix documentary captured their journey, showing Batiste\u2019s struggle to ease her pain.
