Everything was going well until the doorbell rang. There stood my sister, Kim\u2014uninvited but smiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim, the family prankster, had a history of going too far. I still remembered my wedding day, when she left green slime on my dress. So, her arrival wasn\u2019t exactly welcomed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring our apprehension, she handed the boys large, beautifully wrapped gifts. Their eyes widened with excitement as they tore through the paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then came the cries of disappointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese boxes are empty!\u201d Daniel sniffled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim burst into laughter. \u201cIt\u2019s just a joke, Miranda. Lighten up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Antonio led the boys back to their friends while I ushered Kim out. As she reached her car, a passing vehicle drenched her in rainwater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, a text appeared on my phone: &#8220;Sorry.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe, just maybe, this was the beginning of Kim\u2019s change.
