A single mother went into labor prematurely and had to spend over a year in the hospital with her baby, but when she got out, her adult son had done something she never imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I got pregnant with Jace, I thought living in my late mother\u2019s old trailer was just temporary. But as bills piled up, I could never save enough to move us into something better. I worked hard, hoping Jace would appreciate my sacrifices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Jace turned 18, I encouraged him to find a job but let him stay with me. Unfortunately, he took that as permission to stay forever. By the time he was 22, working minimum wage and putting in no extra effort, I accidentally got pregnant again. The father left, and Jace worried we couldn’t afford a baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At five months, I went into labor early. My baby, Luke, was born premature and had to stay in the hospital for over a year. Through the long, difficult days, Jace saw my love and determination and began to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I finally brought Luke home, only to discover strangers living in our trailer. Jace had sold it. I panicked, thinking he took off with the money. But he surprised me: he’d saved his earnings, worked extra shifts, and bought us a small house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t live in that trailer anymore, Mom. Luke deserves better,\u201d he said. The house was modest, but it was ours, with a room for Luke and plans for Jace to create his own basement apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you proud?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m going to have a heart attack from all this pride,\u201d I told him, smiling through tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life wasn\u2019t perfect, with bills to pay, home repairs, and Luke\u2019s medical needs, but we made it through. We worked hard together and built a home filled with love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
