Jamie Wilson is a transgender musician whose life serves as inspiration for many people who consider going through what he had gone \u2013 transition from female to male.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I came out, people refused to believe I was a man because I had looked feminine for 18 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started his transition by cutting his hair short and wearing men clothes. Later, he had started testosterone therapy, which takes around one to two years for the results to show. A complete change, however, may require up to five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt first I was scared to come out as transgender because I didn\u2019t give any \u2018signs\u2019 as people say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I first came out people tried telling me \u2018this is not who you are\u2019 that\u2019s when I realized you are NOT who people think you are\u2026you are who you KNOW you are,\u201d he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson\u2019s transition took time, but it also took certain toll, including losing some of his family and friends who didn\u2019t support his decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Except for the hormone treatment, some individuals opt for a surgery.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to UCSF<\/a><\/em>, many of the effects of hormone therapy are reversable if the therapy is stopped. This, however, isn\u2019t the case with the surgeries, which are permanent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why it is of crucial importance to talk to medical professionals about all the risks and get informed about every aspect of the transition process before undergoing one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing his followers on the social media, Wilson says<\/a> that \u201cNot everyone has to show \u2018signs\u2019 to be transgender. You don\u2019t have to pass a test to prove you\u2019re trans\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He adds: \u201cAnd you sure as hell don\u2019t need ANYONE\u2019S approval but your own.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
