Before his fame from roles in *The Flintstones*, *Blues Brothers*, and *The Big Lebowski*, Goodman faced serious personal struggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goodman has been open about his battle with alcoholism, which lasted over 30 years and deeply impacted his life and career. In a 2012 interview, he confessed the drinking was \u201ccertainly\u201d affecting his acting work, including his \u201ctemperament, memory, [and] depression.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 2015, he revealed just how \u201cbad\u201d his drinking had gotten, saying: \u201cI mean, there\u2019s many times I could have gone under. Not overdosed, but\u2026 well\u2026 misadventure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goodman achieved sobriety in 2007, though he admitted it remains a daily struggle. He described having dreams about drinking, where he would think, \u201cYou sneak it all the time!\u201d before waking up and realizing, \u201cNo, I don\u2019t.\u201d He added: \u201cThe voices were worrisome at first.
