Hi everyone, I just had to share this because it still brings tears to my eyes. I\u2019m Emily, 17, and like every senior girl, I was counting down the days to prom. I\u2019d worked so hard\u2014saved money from babysitting, picked out a gorgeous violet dress (my late mom\u2019s favorite color), and booked a fancy salon appointment to get my hair done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted the night to be perfect. But my stepmother, Carla, had other plans. She\u2019s never liked me much, and on the day of prom, she did something awful\u2014she\u00a0canceled<\/em>\u00a0my hair appointment and took the slot for herself. I showed up to the salon and found out my name had been removed\u2026 and there she was, sitting in the chair, getting pampered. She smirked at me like she\u2019d won. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went home devastated, locked myself in my room, and cried. My dream night was falling apart. But then\u2014something incredible happened. A limo pulled up outside our house. At first, I thought it was a mistake. But then the driver handed a card to my dad, who passed it to me. It read:\u00a0\u201cTo my beautiful sister Emily. I know things have been tough, but you deserve the best prom night ever. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been saving all my birthday and Christmas money for this. Love, Mason.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Mason. My 11-year-old stepbrother. Turns out, he overheard Carla canceling my appointment and decided to fix everything. But he didn\u2019t stop there\u2014he also asked the, stylist from across the street to come and help me get ready. Within 20 minutes, I went from crying in my room to feeling like a real princess. I laughed, danced, and felt beautiful. For the first time in a long time, I felt like my mom was with me, proud of the woman I\u2019m becoming.
