{"id":58739,"date":"2025-05-13T14:55:19","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T14:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/?p=58739"},"modified":"2025-05-13T14:55:19","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T14:55:19","slug":"51-year-ol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/?p=58739","title":{"rendered":"51-Year Ol."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-152.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-58740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-152.png 720w, https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-152-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-152-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Vermont authorities taking part in a training last week believe they discovered the body of a hiker who went missing back in January, with the help of a rescue dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, April 30, the Vermont State Police announced that it had discovered what is believed to be the body of 51-year-old Sue Mi Ko earlier that afternoon \u2014 over three months after the Craftsbury woman was initially reported missing on Jan. 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the rescue, which happened during a search and rescue team training near Lake Willoughby in the town of Westmore, crews recovered the woman\u2019s body \u201cseveral hundred yards from the Mount Pisgah trailhead,\u201d per state police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chief Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Burlington will next conduct an autopsy to determine the woman\u2019s cause and manner of death, however, state police notes that there are \u201cno indications that this incident is suspicious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A spokesperson for the VSP confirmed to PEOPLE on Thursday, May 8, that no further information was available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the VSP, the agency was first notified of Ko\u2019s missing status on Jan. 9, when she \u201cwas overdue\u201d in the area of the Mount Pisgah trailhead. Ko\u2019s vehicle was discovered in a trailhead parking at the time, per the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/North-Country-Search-Dogs-located-the-remains-of-Sue-Mi-Ko-050825-726699bfface419092428b970b713980.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9332\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The woman\u2019s body was also located thanks to the work of Radar, a black German Shepherd rescue dog, according to a Facebook post by North Country Search Dogs in West Wardsboro, Vermont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYesterday, one of our search dogs located the remains of Sue Mi Ko, who has been missing since early January. She has been on everyone\u2019s minds in the North East Kingdom since search efforts were hampered and delayed by difficult terrain and high snowpack,\u201d the nonprofit shared in its statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNorth Country Search Dogs has been very invested in this search \u2014 this was the third time our dogs were deployed to look for Sue Mi, and we\u2019ve been impatiently waiting for the snow to melt so we could get back out there.
