A producer noticed him during an amateur night at the Comedy Store on the L.A. Sunset Strip during a vacation after his friends convinced him to try it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Mandel is one of the most famous names in the world of entertainment. The truth is that no one can really assume that someone as fun as Mandel could be going through such a thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>I\u2019m living in a nightmare,\u201d he declared. \u201d I work to ground myself. I love what I do and have a lovely family. Mandel revealed to People magazine that there was no day the thought \u201cwe would die\u201d didn\u2019t cross his mind. But the fact that no one from his closest surrounding was affected gave him comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although he was diagnosed in his thirties, Mandal knows he had OCD and ADHD since forever. He, however, didn\u2019t speak of his mental state openly because he believed it would affect his career. \u201cMy first reaction was that I\u2019ve embarrassed my family,\u201d he admitted. \u201cThen I realized that nobody would hire someone who wasn\u2019t stable. Those were my concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The compulsions and obsessions are very distressing and interfere with day-to-day tasks. \u201cI\u2019m in a bad dream,\u201d the Canadian-born comedian declared. \u201cI attempt to ground myself. Mandel remarks, \u201cI have a great family, including my wife Terry and their three children, Riley, Jackie, and Alex. I adore what I do. People believe that because I\u2019m out and about, I\u2019m having fun and enjoying myself. I\u2019m terrified,\u201d He told the host. \u201cI like to go home and just live in the foetal position.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clarkson responded, \u201cIt\u2019s so funny to me, because every time I\u2019m around you, even seeing you out of work\u2026 you\u2019re so the opposite of what I would think.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mandel chuckled, \u201cI know, I\u2019m such a joy, I\u2019m a light, I\u2019m an energy, and I\u2019m stunning. And I\u2019ve still held back on how horrible and dark it actually gets. In a way, comedy saved me. I feel very much at ease on stage.
