The large number-shaped balloon had accidentally blocked his breathing, and despite paramedics&#8217; efforts, he could not be revived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was absolutely traumatic,\u201d his mother Carly shared in an emotional interview. \u201cYou hear the screams, the sirens, then the doctor saying, \u2018We\u2019re really sorry.\u2019\u201d She recalled holding Joshua\u2019s hands in his final moments, telling him, \u201cIf your angel wings are there, take them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An inquest confirmed Joshua died from asphyxia involving helium. Though helium is non-toxic, it displaces oxygen. When inhaled or when a balloon covers the face, it can quickly lead to suffocation. The coroner noted Joshua may have been innocently playing or mimicking a funny voice when the accident happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carly has since taken to social media to warn other parents: \u201cPlease, do not buy your children helium balloons.
