The incident occurred in Balrampur district while the boy was playing and accidentally fell, landing on the nail. It pierced through his neck and extended into his skull, barely missing a major blood vessel, according to doctors at King George\u2019s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially taken to a nearby hospital, the child was transferred to KGMU on May 16 for emergency surgery. MRI scans revealed the nail had traveled from his lower jaw up to his brainstem. The delicate four-hour procedure involved experts from Neurosurgery and ENT departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis was a very complicated case,\u201d said Dr. Sandip Tiwari. \u201cThe nail had to be carefully removed without damaging the brain or nerves connecting the mouth and brain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Samir Misra added that even a minor error could have been fatal.
