The news was shared by Carson family friend Howard Smith during a recent <em>Nostalgia Tonight<\/em> podcast episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith revealed he learned of Chris\u2019s passing from Johnny\u2019s nephew, Jeff Sotzing, two months ago. \u201cI said, \u2018So Jeff, what\u2019s happening with Chris?\u2019 And he goes, \u2018Howard, Chris just died last week,\u2019\u201d Smith recalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chris, an avid golfer, lived in Florida and was remembered fondly by Smith, who often joined Johnny and Chris on golf outings. \u201cJohn didn\u2019t golf with us\u2014he\u2019d just ride along to watch Chris play,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pulsperry.com\/?p=62843\">also read&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chris was born in 1950, the first of three sons Johnny had with his first wife, Joan \u201cJody\u201d Morrill Wolcott. His brother Rick died in a 1991 car accident. Cory, the youngest, is still alive but keeps a low profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 1980s, Chris made headlines during a public child support case involving his daughter, Christal.
