Known as the last full moon of spring or the first of summer, it glows with warm amber tones and occasional rosy hues. As the sixth full moon of 2025, this is one celestial event you won’t want to miss.

The Strawberry Moon, named for the strawberry harvest in June as noted by the Old Farmer’s Almanac, has roots in Indigenous and European traditions. Native American tribes also called it the Hatching Moon, Hot Moon, or Blooming Moon. Europeans once referred to it as the Rose Moon or Honey Moon.

The moon will rise at sunset on June 10—around 8:00 p.m. in Los Angeles and 8:30 p.m. in New York. Peak illumination occurs June 11 at 3:44 a.m. ET. Observers in the South Pacific may also see the moon occult Antares, the brightest star in Scorpius.

For best viewing, find a high vantage point free of light pollution. NASA recommends giving your eyes time to adjust—or using binoculars to observe its detailed surface.

also read…

Skywatchers, take note: the Strawberry Moon will grace the skies on June 10, 2025.
