But when I returned, everything fell apart. I came home Sunday to a destroyed bathroom door and strange behavior from both John and Lila. He claimed he got stuck inside and had to break the door down. Lila said nothing\u2014just asked to go to bed. Something felt very wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later that night, our neighbor Dave caught me outside. He apologized, saying he had broken down our bathroom door on Saturday after Lila ran to him in tears, fearing her dad was hurt. I filed for divorce and gave Dave a thank-you note for his honesty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, in our temporary apartment, I watch Lila laugh again. It hurts, but I know I made the right choice.
