After the wedding, he asked me to quit my job. \u201cLet me take care of us,\u201d he said. I loved him, so I said yes.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when he changed.<\/p>\n

Coffee stopped. Lists started\u2014groceries, chores, dinners. Affection vanished, replaced by silent expectations. I became the maid, not a wife.<\/p>\n

I mentioned freelance work. He shrugged, \u201cNo need. You’re home now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then came his birthday. The house was full. I served appetizers I spent hours making, and Aidan cut through the room with a cruel joke. \u201cHow much of my money did you spend today?\u201d Laughter died.<\/p>\n
