Kate Middleton shared in January that she was in remission amid her cancer treatment. The Princess of Wales, who was diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer, became cancer-free last fall and has since visited several cancer patients and spoken openly about her experience. Now, during a visit to a Colchester hospital, the mother-of-three shared how \u201cdifficult\u201d the time has been following her cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

Last fall, Kate Middleton revealed that she was finally cancer-free. Following months of cancer treatment, the Princess of Wales is returning to the royal stage. While she has been seen at events such as Trooping the Colour, as well as outings with her husband, Prince William, Kate is taking things slowly.<\/p>\n

In a column for the Daily Mail, royal correspondent Rebbeca English cited sources that claimed William and Kate have gotten a whole new perspective on life. The \u201ctrauma\u201d has \u201cchanged\u201d the Princess of Wales as a person. Moreover, one source made the bombshell claim that Kate won\u2019t adopt the same schedule as she did before her diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cCancer impacts on your perspective, and what you have seen in the decisions they have made over the last year is that family and their children continue to be at the center of their universe,\u201d a source told English.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth Their Royal Highnesses have a strong commitment to duty, service, and using their platform for good. But what they are working on is ways they can balance themselves as parents with being the Prince and Princess of Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is adjusting the dial,\u201d another source said.<\/p>\n

Kate Middleton opens up about \u201cdifficult\u201d time after cancer treatment
\nA close friend of Kate Middleton concluded: \u201cAs Catherine herself said, she\u2019s looking forward to the future with hope and a new appreciation of life. She has also had little choice but to take a step back and focus on herself, which inevitably has led her to reassess where their priorities lie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate Middleton has praised doctors and nurses for their hard work during her cancer treatment and has met with cancer patients several times. On June 2, she visited Colchester Hospital in Essex, where she once again met cancer patients and spent time in a specially designed garden which is to be used as a restorative space for those receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

Per People Magazine, Kate Middleton opened up about her cancer journey during the visit, saying that the time after the treatment was not what she expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment\u2019s done, then it\u2019s like, \u2018I can crack on, get back to normal,\u2019 but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,\u201d Kate Middleton said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you\u2019re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to find your new normal\u201d
\nThe Princess of Wales added that it was \u201clife-changing,\u201d concluding, \u201cYou have to find your new normal and that takes time\u2026and it\u2019s a rollercoaster, it\u2019s not smooth, like you expect it to be,\u201d she said. \u201cBut the reality is you go through hard times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Kate is not yet back to her regular schedule, that may change in the coming months. Not only has Kate carefully planned her time, but she and William also appear to have a plan in place. While it could take years for William to take the throne as king and Kate to become queen, a person described as a \u201cfriend\u201d of the couple says they are preparing for \u201cshifts\u201d in the coming months.<\/p>\n

The friend told People that \u201csome major shifts coming behind the scenes,\u201d adding that both the Prince and Princess of Wales are building their respective teams for their ascension, although it might not happen for many, many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are really finessing what works and what doesn\u2019t,\u201d the friend added.<\/p>\n
