People Whose Brave Actions Deserve a Movie<\/div>\n

Sometimes people do things that are so daring, kind, or unexpected that they feel like they came straight out of a movie. These aren\u2019t instances of fame or large crowds, but of ordinary people making difficult decisions, stepping up quietly, or improving someone\u2019s life when it counted the most. We selected a few actual examples in which someone\u2019s deeds were so compelling that they remained in someone\u2019s memory indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Story 1:
\nI was with my boyfriend when a woman came and pressed a sanitary pad into my hand. She said, \u201cYou need this.\u201d I wasn\u2019t on my period\u2014I checked in the toilet. Something felt off. When I opened the pad, in shaky red ink and frantic writing, were two words: \u201cGoogle him.\u201d<\/p>\n

At first, I didn\u2019t understand. The only person with me was my boyfriend, someone I had only been dating for two weeks. Still, curiosity got the better of me. I took out my phone and searched his name, not expecting much. What I found left me stunned.<\/p>\n

Story 2:

So I\u2019m standing there at the only working machine, with a line of people behind me, trying to buy a card. I was a little frantic because I knew people were waiting. People in the line started yelling at me to \u201cHurry up!\u201d I started to get teary-eyed, which made me even more frantic.<\/p>\n

Then, this guy stepped out of the line and told everyone to chill out. He came up, showed me step by step what to do, and paid for a 12-ride card for me. He patted me on the back and told me, \u201cNext time someone yells at you, yell back, and they\u2019ll leave you alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nI was late three days in a row, right in the middle of probation. I thought I was going to be fired. What I didn\u2019t know is my coworker Jake had told HR I was helping him deal with a \u201cfamily emergency\u201d and vouched that I was working late hours off the books. It wasn\u2019t true \u2014 he just knew I was struggling to keep it together after a breakup.

\nMy first wife abandoned us when my son was an infant. It was rough, but I survived.
\nOne evening I was at dinner with some friends. I had to change the baby; there was no table in the men\u2019s room. I asked a lady leaving the ladies room if it was empty, and she checked for me, gave me the okay. While I was trying to get my diaper bag sorted, she came up and offered to change him.<\/p>\n

I told her I had it, but she insisted, and put her arm around me. Apparently, I\u2019d been holding in a breakdown the whole time, and she saw right through it. Story 8:
\nFlying home after Basic Training to spend Christmas with my family, I found out the flight was overbooked and there was only one seat left. The couple in front of me were debating which of them should take it.<\/p>\n

The guy said, \u201cYou should take it, it\u2019s your family. I\u2019ll catch a later flight.\u201d Then the woman looked back, saw me, and asked where I was headed. I mentioned I was going home to see my pregnant wife and my family. She then told the woman at the counter that I should get the last seat.<\/p>\n

Story 10:
\nOne day, my thesis advisor called me into his office and handed me a binder. It was a \u201cjoint project\u201d he said we had been working on \u2014 only, I hadn\u2019t done any of it.
\nHe did the research, wrote most of it, and left the last few pages blank. \u201cJust fill this in,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019ll pass you.\u201d<\/p>\n

I graduated on time. Still can\u2019t talk about it without crying.<\/p>\n

\nWhen I was 15 or 16, my parents dropped me off at the mall to meet up with my girlfriend. We had a small argument, and she dumped me on the spot, literally running into the arms of some guy she knew\u2014right in front of me.<\/p>\n

I was emotionally wrecked and called my parents no less than 30 times, but I got no answer. I was about to start walking the 8 miles back home when a kid in the grade above me came up and asked what was wrong. He drove me home and made me feel like my life wasn\u2019t over.
