What began as a peaceful summer retreat turned tragic after sudden flash flooding along the Guadalupe River claimed at least 51 lives across Texas. Kerr County was hit hardest, reporting 43 deaths, including 15 children. Many victims were at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp, when floodwaters surged through. Over 20 children remain missing as search efforts continue.<\/p>\n

Severe storms and torrential rains triggered what meteorologists called a \u201cflood wave,\u201d rapidly overwhelming the riverbanks. A truck was seen impaled on a tree, and cabins were swept away in minutes. Video footage captured the sudden wall of water rushing through Center Point, Texas.<\/p>\n

Texas Game Wardens reached Camp Mystic and began rescuing campers. Tragically, several young girls were confirmed dead, including Renee Smajstrla, Sarah Marsh, Lila Bonner, and Janie Hunt.<\/p>\n

Entire families are still missing. Among them is the Zunker family, last seen vacationing near Camp Mystic. The Brake family also suffered loss, as Joni Kay and Robert Leroy Brake Sr. disappeared from an RV park near Kerrville.<\/p>\n

Officials warn the toll may rise. Rescue teams continue working in dangerous conditions, navigating debris and fast-moving waters. The tragedy has left Texas communities grieving, while families cling to hope amid heartbreak.<\/p>\n
