Female undergarments and a note reading, \u201cThis is a murder story\u201d were found in the teen\u2019s room, per an unsealed search warrant affidavit<\/li>\n<li>No arrests have been made, and police have not publicly named a suspect or ruled out the possibility of more than one perpetrator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20719\" src=\"https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-14-001854.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 927px) 100vw, 927px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-14-001854.png 927w, https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-14-001854-300x177.png 300w, https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Screenshot-2025-07-14-001854-768x454.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"927\" height=\"548\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Newly unsealed warrants detail a series of increasingly aggressive messages a 15-year-old allegedly sent to his mother months before she and his younger brother were found shot dead \u2014 among suspicious items found in the teen\u2019s room after the fact was a note that read, \u201cThis is a murder story.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1724541\"><\/div>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbyadop\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">In July 2024, the teenager \u2014 who has not been named publicly \u2014 allegedly sent his mother, Jessica Lyman, several texts that investigators now cite as evidence of a deteriorating relationship and potential motive.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">According to the search warrant affidavit, obtained by PEOPLE, a forensic download of Lyman\u2019s phone on April 2 allegedly revealed the following text messages from her 15-year-old:<\/p>\n<ul id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\n<li>\u201cF\u2014 off h\u2013\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI don\u2019t like you go away\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLeave me the f\u2014 alone\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShut the f\u2014 up please\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDo you need to learn how to shut your mouth\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m more happy when I\u2019m not around you\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShut the f\u2014 up can\u2019t hear you womp womp\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYou\u2019re so f\u2014\u2014 mentally ill\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShut up witch\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDo you know how insignificant you are in my life? Very insignificant\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI wish I died in your stomach. Wouldn\u2019t have to put up with you.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On March 28, police were called to the Lyman residence after Lyman\u2019s 17-year-old daughter returned home to find her mother and 8-year-old brother, Eli Painter, unconscious and \u201ccovered in blood\u201d in her mother\u2019s bedroom, per the document. Jessica was rushed to the hospital but died three days later; Eli died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>According to the warrant, two spent .22-caliber shell casings were found at the scene, but a murder weapon has not been recovered.<\/p>\n<p>Lyman\u2019s pants and underwear were pulled around her ankles, according to the warrant. Investigators used alternate light sources to detect bodily fluids on Lyman\u2019s clothing and bedding, which were sent to the state crime lab for analysis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1724541\"><\/div>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbyadop\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20723\" src=\"https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1244-Willowbrook-Ln-071025-f04f30e783704033abc3b7cbe5f326fa.webp\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1244-Willowbrook-Ln-071025-f04f30e783704033abc3b7cbe5f326fa.webp 1500w, https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1244-Willowbrook-Ln-071025-f04f30e783704033abc3b7cbe5f326fa-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1244-Willowbrook-Ln-071025-f04f30e783704033abc3b7cbe5f326fa-1024x683.webp 1024w, https:\/\/en33.usnews.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1244-Willowbrook-Ln-071025-f04f30e783704033abc3b7cbe5f326fa-768x512.webp 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" \/><br \/>\n\u201cSex toys and lubricant\u201d were found in both Lyman and her teen son\u2019s bedroom; one black, fishnet stocking was found in Lyman\u2019s room, and the other in her teen son\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the 15-year-old\u2019s bedroom, officers recovered a range of other items: multiple masks, plate carriers, two BB-style guns, several pairs of female undergarments and handwritten notes \u2014 one of which read, \u201cThis is a murder story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another note referenced forensic terms like \u201cDNA,\u201d \u201cserology,\u201d and \u201cfirearm testing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance footage from a neighbor captured a person in a white mask \u2014 which \u201cresembles [one of] the mask[s]\u201d found in the 15-year-old\u2019s room, according to the warrant \u2014 walking near the home around 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1724541\"><\/div>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbyadop\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>No arrests have been made, and police have not publicly named a suspect.
