The gunman shot Officer Didarul Islam, 36, in the back, killing him. Five people, including Islam, have died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Islam is the father of two young boys and has been an officer since December 2021. His wife is expecting their third kid, and she is eight months along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/28\/us-news\/nypd-officer-killed-in-midtown-shooting-identified-as-didarul-islam\/\">The New York Post<\/a>, he was wearing an NYPD uniform on Monday night while working as a private security guard for Rudin Management Company. Adams praised Islam\u2019s dedication, faith, and service.
