The day&nbsp;I gave birth, I&nbsp;couldn\u2019t stop crying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My&nbsp;dad held my&nbsp;hand and said, \u201cI&nbsp;won\u2019t let anyone hurt you.\u201d I&nbsp;didn\u2019t believe him. But then he&nbsp;gave me&nbsp;a&nbsp;key to&nbsp;the apartment he&nbsp;bought for me&nbsp;and my&nbsp;baby. She is&nbsp;the first granddaughter, after all.\u201d He&nbsp;just shrugged and said, \u201cRight now, I\u2019m checking on&nbsp;my&nbsp;baby.\u201d Did not expect that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My&nbsp;dad wasn\u2019t the most emotionally expressive person when&nbsp;I was growing&nbsp;up, so&nbsp;that was unexpected but very appreciated. I\u2019ve heard so&nbsp;many stories from moms over the decades who had everyone come and immediately fawn over the baby with no&nbsp;checking on&nbsp;them whatsoever. We\u2019re in&nbsp;our mid-twenties, and after half a&nbsp;year of&nbsp;marriage, he\u2019s changed his mind because he&nbsp;thinks we&nbsp;need more time to&nbsp;grow and mature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My&nbsp;dad picked me&nbsp;up&nbsp;from my&nbsp;friend\u2019s house, took me&nbsp;for coffee &amp;&nbsp;to&nbsp;talk, and told me&nbsp;that I\u2019ll be&nbsp;okay, that&nbsp;I have him and a&nbsp;wonderful support system, and so&nbsp;many people who love me&nbsp;to&nbsp;see me&nbsp;through this. I&nbsp;was setting off at&nbsp;half 5&nbsp;in&nbsp;the morning and expected to&nbsp;be&nbsp;up&nbsp;and out by&nbsp;myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My&nbsp;dad woke up&nbsp;half an&nbsp;hour before me&nbsp;and, while&nbsp;I was getting ready, went out to&nbsp;de-ice my&nbsp;car and drove it&nbsp;around a&nbsp;bit so&nbsp;that it&nbsp;was warm when&nbsp;I got&nbsp;in. It&nbsp;was something he&nbsp;didn\u2019t think twice about (when&nbsp;I thanked him, he&nbsp;was like, \u201cThat\u2019s what dads&nbsp;do\u201d), but it&nbsp;meant a&nbsp;lot to&nbsp;me&nbsp;and just sums him up\u2014little things like that make him the best\u2026 to&nbsp;me.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AskWomen\/comments\/hsu89v\/comment\/fycvaqb\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a9&nbsp;Unknown author&nbsp;\/ Reddit<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Story 9:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I&nbsp;cannot imagine the world where they are not the last thing that&nbsp;I see before I&nbsp;go to&nbsp;sleep and the first thing that&nbsp;I see when they wake up&nbsp;in&nbsp;the morning and call&nbsp;me, \u201cDaddy!\u201d, which means that&nbsp;I have to&nbsp;pick them up&nbsp;from their beds and&nbsp;I carry them to&nbsp;the living room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&nbsp;also cannot imagine not being able to&nbsp;walk with them often and do&nbsp;crazy things that only three boys (that\u2019d be&nbsp;me&nbsp;and the two of&nbsp;them) can&nbsp;do. I\u2019m their buddy, shelter, and protector from harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their mother\u2014my wife\u2014pretty much doesn\u2019t divorce me&nbsp;because&nbsp;I provide well for the&nbsp;family, and they are all socially secure, and the kids love&nbsp;me. I&nbsp;don\u2019t have warm feelings for her, either. I&nbsp;hang in&nbsp;there because&nbsp;I cannot stand being without them.
