The FBI \u201chave the wrong man,\u201d according to Charlie Kirk\u2019s alleged assassin\u2019s grandmother.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The right-wing activist was shot and died on Wednesday, September 10, while she was at an event at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FBI quickly declared they had their top suspect while launching a massive investigation for Kirk\u2019s killer, who they believe acted alone and fired a single bullet from a neighboring rooftop of the college campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FBI stated today, September 12, that they had taken Tyler Robinson, age 22, into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the putative suspect stands accused of killing Kirk, his distraught grandma has reportedly come forward and said they have \u2018got the wrong man\u2019 in a case of\u2019mistaken identification\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although he was a devout Republican, Debbie Robinson told the Daily Mail<\/a> that he was a quiet, industrious young guy who \u2018never\u2019 talked about politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 60-year-old claimed that Robinson\u2019s father, her son, is a fervent Trump fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Tyler] is the shyest person,\u201d <\/strong>she told the outlet. \u201cHe has never, ever spoke politics to me at all.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of my family members are Republican. I don\u2019t know any single one who\u2019s a Democrat. I\u2019m just so confused.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police verified Robinson was taken into custody after a family member provided a tip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debbie went on to say that since finding out about her grandson\u2019s suspected role in Kirk\u2019s murder, she hasn\u2019t heard from him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is \u2018no way\u2019 Robinson could be involved,\u201d<\/strong> she reiterated, adding that she firmly felt he had never handled a weapon like the bolt action rifle that murdered Kirk, much less one with such accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he ever shot a gun, to tell you the truth,\u201d <\/strong>she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t hunt, he\u2019s never liked anything like that. I know he doesn\u2019t own any guns.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debbie continued: \u201cThere\u2019s just no way he could have been that good of a shot.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She continued to gushing over her grandson, saying, \u201cHe\u2019s a wonderful child.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no way that he could have done anything like that. I would cross my heart and promise that there was absolutely no way. He has never, ever gotten in trouble in his life. He\u2019s just a very shy, good kid.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way he could be violent,\u201d<\/strong> Debbie claimed. \u201cThere\u2019s absolutely no way that he done that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The revelation from his grandma comes after Utah Governor Spencer Cox claimed that Robinson had previously told his family that he disagreed with the conservative activist\u2019s viewpoints and had grown \u201cmore political\u201d<\/strong> in the days leading up to the shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debbie did, however, express her sadness for Kirk\u2019s wife and kids, even if she believes the FBI has \u201cgot it wrong.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, September 11, at approximately 11 p.m. local time, Robinson was taken into custody from his residence in Washington, Utah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have not yet provided a potential explanation. Robinson might be executed if found guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
