Almost every big businessman started with humble beginnings, and their struggles often fuel their drive to succeed. From Dhirubhai Ambani to Steve Jobs, many of today’s successful figures have risen from poverty to great heights. While these stories are widely known, there are countless lesser-known examples that also offer inspiration. Here’s my story, one of perseverance and growth, from a very poor family to a prosperous business life.

My mother’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience. Born into extreme poverty, she lived in a shack with a dirt floor and no plumbing. After her father passed away, she became a domestic servant at just 11, supporting her mother and four siblings. Despite her challenging upbringing, she managed to immigrate to the United States, working as a waitress. Though she never received more than a partial high school education and lacked financial knowledge, she showed incredible determination.

Through hard work and a series of financial missteps, my mother eventually achieved millionaire status. She bought a modest home when I was born, which has appreciated significantly over the years. Despite many financial mistakes and a lack of understanding of investing, she accumulated wealth through real estate and sheer grit. Today, she owns her home outright, has a small investment property, and continues to manage her finances with the same tenacity that got her to where she is.
