Three years ago, my family and I took a trip to the seaside in the UK. I was about 10 or 11 at the time. During our visit, we stumbled upon a grand church. Seeking a break from our long walk and hoping to keep the younger ones entertained, we decided to go inside and explore. The tranquil atmosphere seemed like a perfect respite from our tiring day.

Inside, we were greeted warmly and started wandering around. My twin cousins, who were 5, were particularly curious. One of them found a small prayer area with a cushion and a Bible stand. She promptly knelt down and put her hands together, attempting to pray. Her concentration was palpable as she whispered, “Can everyone please be quiet? I’m trying to pray.”

My younger brother, who is autistic and doesn’t always grasp the need for quiet in religious settings, shouted out loudly, “To who?!” When my cousin answered, “Jesus,” my brother’s response echoed through the church: “Jesus?! Who is that?!” The entire congregation turned to look at us. Mortified, my family quickly decided to leave. Despite the situation, we couldn’t help but laugh heartily, and the incident remains a favorite story we recount with amusement.
