Self-love has always been a challenging journey for me. I haven’t reached my destination yet, but I’m making progress. Born with eczema, I faced this skin condition for 21 years, which deeply affected my emotional and mental well-being. Growing up, I constantly compared myself to others, feeling ugly and inadequate. It’s easier to advise someone else to recognize their worth when I struggle to do the same for myself.

I found myself attracted to the wrong people—those who were emotionally unavailable—and I often blamed my appearance for my struggles. Fed up with this cycle, I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to learn to love myself better, so I began practicing yoga and meditation, even if I sometimes slipped up. I immersed myself in motivational videos to understand my self-worth, and I can genuinely see improvements.

Negative self-talk used to be my default, which only deepened my insecurities. To combat this, I wrote “No negative self-talk anymore” on a post-it note and placed it on my wall as a constant reminder. While I may not fully believe I deserve love yet, I’m learning that healing isn’t linear; it’s a wave of ups and downs. I often think my life is uniquely difficult, but everyone faces their own battles. Recently, I read someone’s story that resonated with me, reminding me that this struggle is a part of life, and I am not alone.
