Some Window Grills Curve: Here’s Why>>>>>>>>

When you look at windows with bars, you might think of security, but some of those bars have additional purpose.

One of the most notable features is the bulge at the bottom, known as a potbelly. This curve is more than just an aesthetic choice; it serves a practical function.

These window bars have been used for centuries, providing protection against intruders and reinforcing windows to prevent unauthorized access.

The potbelly design is particularly useful for flower boxes. The curve allows space for flowers to be placed on the windowsill while providing extra support. It adds a decorative touch to the outside of the home, creating a visually appealing feature.

Another reason for the potbelly design is its ability to accommodate air conditioning units. In older homes without central air, the extra space in the curved bars makes it easier to install window AC units, helping to keep the interior cool during warmer months.

Though potbelly bars are still seen in cities, they aren’t always used to their full potential anymore.
