The Beverly Hillbillies has always been one of my favorite shows, offering pure, feel-good comedy without any foul language or politics. In the famous episode where Granny mistakes a kangaroo for a giant jackrabbit, a fun blooper sneaks in: when the kangaroo hops to the Clampetts’ back door, a trainer’s foot briefly appears in the lower left corner of the screen.
The episode became the most-watched half-hour sitcom at the time, setting a record. It aired during a challenging period in 1964, when the nation was in mourning after President Kennedy’s assassination, providing a much-needed escape for viewers.
The show had its share of humorous goofs, such as when Granny tosses a wrestler out of the ring and the fish that magically appears in a car. Even iconic stars like John Wayne made cameos, and many behind-the-scenes moments, like the casting director’s name in the show, added to its charm.
