Esra’s Tragic Experience with Chroming

Esra was a vibrant teenager, excelling in sports and surrounded by friends and family. However, during a sleepover, she encountered chroming—a dangerous trend where young people inhale chemicals from products like deodorants for a brief euphoric high.

The effects were devastating. After inhaling spray deodorant, Esra passed out and despite intensive care, her health deteriorated rapidly, forcing her family to make the heartbreaking decision to end treatment.

Chroming can have severe short- and long-term consequences, including memory loss, organ damage, and even death. The chemicals, which enter the bloodstream and reach the brain quickly, cause temporary euphoria but can lead to lasting harm. The rise of social media has amplified the trend, with peer pressure playing a significant role in its spread.

Esra’s family is sharing her story to raise awareness about the dangers of chroming and the need for better education on its risks. Parents and educators must actively engage with young people to help them make informed decisions and avoid this dangerous practice.
