Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing a serious legal crisis after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Miami-Dade County. Authorities are seeking to charge Brown, 36, with attempted murder with a firearm in connection to a shooting that occurred outside a celebrity boxing event on May 16 in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood.
According to a warrant obtained by The Washington Post, the charge requires Brown to post a $10,000 bond and remain under house arrest while awaiting trial. The incident took place late at night outside the venue, where an off-duty officer working security reportedly witnessed Brown involved in a violent altercation with another man. Police arriving at the scene were informed by witnesses that Brown was the shooter. While he did not have a weapon on him when patted down, investigators later recovered two shell casings and an empty holster.
Surveillance footage allegedly shows Brown punching a man, taking a security officer’s firearm, and running toward the victim while gunshots are heard. The victim claims Brown grazed his neck during the shooting before the two struggled over the weapon. The man later received treatment at Aventura Hospital and identified Brown in the footage. He also told authorities he has known Brown since 2022.
This isn’t Brown’s first brush with the law. Despite being one of the NFL’s most talented wide receivers — earning All-Pro honors from 2014 to 2017 — his career was marred by controversies. After high-profile stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown’s off-field conduct increasingly overshadowed his athletic performance.
Brown’s career declined following numerous incidents, including allegations of sexual misconduct, unpaid debts, destruction of property, and domestic violence. In 2021, he infamously exited a Buccaneers game mid-play, removing his jersey and walking off the field shirtless — marking his last appearance in the NFL.

Since his departure from football, Brown has remained in the spotlight due to continued legal and personal troubles. He has been accused of exposing himself in Dubai, failing to pay child support, and even filed for bankruptcy in 2024. Brown has publicly attributed his erratic behavior to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a condition linked to repeated head trauma in football.
As of now, Antonio Brown remains at large, with Miami-Dade officials urging his surrender. The case continues to unfold, with serious implications for the former NFL star.
