A devastating mass shooting unfolded in Minneapolis at Annunciation Church on West 54th Street, sparking a massive response from police, paramedics, and specialized units.
The tragedy occurred on the morning of August 27, 2025, turning a quiet day into horror. At least two people have been confirmed dead, with nearly 20 others injured. Four remain in critical condition at local hospitals. Disturbingly, several victims are children, some carried to safety by first responders as terrified families looked on.
The ordeal began around 8:30 a.m. when gunfire erupted inside the church. Witnesses described chaos as residents fled and emergency vehicles flooded the neighborhood. One nearby resident, Michael Kraabel, posted on X: “I just heard a massive shootout a couple blocks from my house. 100+ rounds. Now we hear sirens coming.”
Authorities also raised concerns about a possible explosive device, prompting the bomb squad and state patrol helicopter to assist. Mayor Jacob Frey called the attack “horrific violence” and urged residents to give officers space.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, last seen in black clothing with a rifle. For Minneapolis, a sacred place of prayer has become a crime scene marked by grief.
