In Keene, New Hampshire, police officer Jason Short responded quickly when notified of an infant left unattended in a car during intense heat. Arriving at a Walmart parking lot, Jason saw what he believed was a sleeping baby wrapped up inside the vehicle and decided to break the window to rescue the child.
After removing the small figure and noticing its unnatural appearance, Jason discovered that he was holding a hyper-realistic doll, not a real baby. The doll’s owner, Carolynne Seiffer, was dismayed to return home to a damaged window and a crowd staring at her cherished, lifelike doll named Ainsley.

Carolynne shared that these dolls help her cope with losing her son. Officer Short expressed no regrets, saying that he would always prioritize a child’s safety and never assume such a figure was a doll.
The police department paid for fixing the broken window and advised owners to keep such dolls hidden to avoid similar situations.
