Three beachgoers dead after sea mines wash up on beach and explode at popular tourist spot
Tragedy struck a beach in southern Ukraine when three swimmers were killed by sea mines near Zatoka Beach in Odesa. The victims, two men and a woman, were swimming in an area that had been prohibited for safety reasons.
Regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed the fatalities, stating all three were killed by explosive devices. He reiterated that entering unchecked waters is “fatally dangerous” due to ongoing threats.
The Black Sea has become increasingly hazardous since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Both Russian and Ukrainian forces have laid mines that can drift toward shorelines due to currents and weather.
In addition to sea mines, unexploded mortars and aerial bombs have been found in the water. These dangers have led officials to close many beaches and warn tourists to avoid prohibited areas.
The identities of the three victims have not yet been released. Local police reported the deaths resulted from two separate explosions of unknown objects while they were swimming.

Trump stated further details would be provided later. Some media outlets suggest Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may also be invited to participate in the discussions.
