My Wife Tried to Impress My Family

Two months after our wedding, my wife and I joined my parents for our first family dinner. She brought her signature dish, dressed beautifully, and did everything she could to connect. Instead of kindness, she got indifference. When they tasted her food, my sister rolled her eyes and stormed off. My mom patted her hand and said she’d buy her a beginner’s cookbook. My dad added, “She means you need an upgrade.”

I saw my wife’s hand tighten in mine. That’s when I stood and pulled out an envelope. Inside was proof of their secret group chat—bets on how long our marriage would last, insults about my wife, even mocking photos. Their faces froze. Without waiting for excuses, we left. I had known about the chat for weeks. My youngest brother, accidentally added, had sent me everything.

At first, I’d considered confronting them privately, hoping for an apology. But that dinner showed me they had no respect for her. Later, my sister tried to justify their cruelty as “wanting the best for me.” My wife, gracious as always, urged me to reconcile. I refused.

Today, I only speak to my youngest brother. My priority is protecting my wife and building the loving family she deserves. Source: brightside.me
