Country music superstar Chris Stapleton recently made a deeply emotional hospital visit to 19-year-old Alex Moffett of Erie, Colorado — the sole survivor of a devastating car crash that claimed her father, sister, and grandmother. The family had been traveling to Kansas City in June 2025 to attend Stapleton’s All-American Road Show concert when tragedy struck.
Their vehicle was hit head-on by a 16-year-old driver who reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Derek, 55, and Patricia, 83, died instantly, while 16-year-old Catherine passed away days later. Alex, a Montana State University student, survived with severe injuries, including multiple fractures and a punctured lung.
After hearing her story, Stapleton arranged a surprise visit on Father’s Day. Expecting a video call, Alex was stunned when Chris and his wife, Morgane, walked into her hospital room. The singer performed Traveller, a song he wrote in memory of his own father, offering a moment of comfort, connection, and hope. For Alex, the visit was a powerful reminder that healing can come not just through medicine — but through music and shared humanity.
