MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. — In the early morning hours of December 2, 2023, what began as a series of frantic 911 calls from frightened residents in a quiet Wisconsin apartment complex quickly escalated into a violent confrontation that tested the limits of police training, tactics, and teamwork.
Shortly after sunrise, Mount Pleasant police officers responded to reports of a man breaking into an apartment building, destroying property, and terrorizing residents. Within minutes, two officers found themselves face-to-face with a combative suspect who would not respond to commands or multiple Taser deployments — a standoff that ended only when backup officers arrived in force.

Dispatchers began receiving emergency calls just after 7:00 a.m. Residents at an apartment complex in Mount Pleasant reported that an unknown man had entered the building without permission and was wreaking havoc inside.
