During a roundtable discussion at the White House on Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Military and federal law enforcement agencies would be expanding their ongoing efforts to combat foreign drug cartels to land-based operations. The escalation comes after a number of airstrikes on drug-trafficking boats in international waters, particularly off the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia.
