Trump Faces New Impeachment Charges Over Abuse of Power
Washington’s political tensions soared this week as
Congress introduced new articles of impeachment against former President Donald J. Trump,
accusing him of violating the Constitution by ordering military actions without congressional approval.
The resolution cites “willful disregard of constitutional limitations” and a pattern of conduct
“incompatible with the office of President of the United States.”
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) called Trump’s actions “a dangerous abuse of executive authority,”
while Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) dismissed the move as “another witch hunt.”
Central to the case is Trump’s alleged breach of the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
Talk of invoking the 25th Amendment has also grown, with critics calling the situation “a constitutional emergency.”
Still, analysts say removal remains unlikely due to Trump’s firm control over his allies.
As one historian noted, “This moment tests the limits of American democracy.”
The nation now braces for a historic constitutional showdown.
